New blog defaults, a useful timesaver

If you are a blog administrator it’s frustrating that every time you set up a new blog you have to visit that blog and tweak it to get it right for use. Fortunately, WordPress has a “New blog defaults” feature that allows you to set up some of the basics prior to creating a batch of new blogs. For example,you can set up a set of links to appear automatically on each new blog created, such a link back to the school home blog, or a link to the VLE etc.

You can access the “New blog defaults” feature from the Super Admin menu (Site Admin in WordPress 2) when logged in as a site admin.

Most of the settings are self explanatory but I’ve added some screen captures in this slideshow to help:
