Using IFTTT to create an autopost on my blog #classblog

Note: this blogpost was created automatically by using IFTTT. If This Then That is a great free tool that allows you to create links between your different social media accounts speeding up your workflow. In this example, Twitter and WordPress are linked so that whenever I tweet using a specific hashtag (e.g. #classblog), as well as appearing in Twitter, a photopost on my blog is automatically created from the tweet. Here, I was running a course at Leigh St Peter’s Primary School on how to use IFTTT, so I picked up my phone (or class iPad) and tweeted a picture of the course with the hashtag #classblog. So next time a child comes up to you with a piece of great work, just tweet a picture and post straight to your blog.
This is just one example of how you could use IFTTT. Here are a few others:
  • Create a homework folder in Dropbox (or Google Drive) and autopost to your class blog with a link to the document every time you upload a new homework task;
  • Link your Vimeo or YouTube account with your blog so that whenever a video is uploaded a link is posted to your blog;
  • Link your class blog to twitter so that you automatically tweet when a blogpost appears;
  • Link your class blog to your school Facebook page so that a linked post appears on Facebook everytime you post on your blog.

    Hi John,
    Looking into the IF app. Does it work the other way round so that I could tweet something and it would automatically post on blog too? Have tried it but not working as yet
